There are some songs (purposefully avoiding the word hymns) in our book that are so musically-challenged that they cry out for someone to reharmonize them. Usually I have been able to escape playing these hymns, but I am not always successful in avoiding them. It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. Since this one appeared on our program for Sacrament services yesterday, I quickly composed this little ditty. Apologies to anyone who loves this song–I would describe this last verse treatment as making a nylon purse out of a sow’s ear.
