I was asked to play this hymn for the funeral of my Brother-in-Law in the fall of 2019. It was one of his favorites. The text is fine, but I have never been a fan of the rather-organ-unfriendly music as presented in Hymn 219 in the green book. To honor both Steve’s wish that it be played at his funeral and to make an arrangement more suited to the organ (and hopefully less sappy, affekted, sentimental, saccharine…), I came up with this setting.

As you may be aware, the copyright restrictions on this hymn are extremely tight. However, I was granted a license to distribute up to 1600 copies of this setting. The copyright notice on the bottom must always be there. Please do not share. With 1600 copies available, there should be enough to go around.
